SAMUEL Johnson has announced the date of the farewell service for his sister, Connie, who died last week after a long battle with cancer.
Her brother, actor and Gold Logie winner Samuel Johnson posted on the Love Your Sister Facebook page about the service, which will be live-streamed.
“Connie Cottonsock’s village service will be in Melbourne on the 23rd. Just wanted to give a heads up to any interstate villagers planning to attend. Xsam,” the post read.
The 40-year-old mother of two died on Friday following a long battle with the disease and just a day after receiving a Medal of the Order of Australia for her work on behalf of other cancer sufferers.
Her Gold Logie-winning brother quit acting last year to raise money for his sister’s Love Your Sister cancer charity.
The campaign has so far raised millions of dollars for cancer research, with Samuel Johnson pledging not to return to acting before it reaches $10 million. In July, he said his sister was in palliative care after the cancer spread.
Johnson announced she died on Friday with a touching Facebook tribute. “I’m sad and sorry to be the one to tell you this, yet at the same time, as the Chief Custodian of my sister’s legacy, I also feel extremely grateful and proud,” he wrote.
