Former Labour leader Phil Goff, who was beaten for the chance at becoming prime minister in 2011, has had his first meeting with Jacinda Ardern.
Phil Goff has returned to the Beehive to meet with the woman who did what he couldn't - lead Labour into government.
The Auckland mayor and former Labour leader is meeting Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern for the first time in her new job.
After an awkward hug Mr Goff said it was good to be back at parliament, where he served as an MP from 1984 until his defeat in the 2011 election.
"I'm almost feeling nostalgic about the place but maybe the emphasis is on almost," he said.
The pair are set to meet for around an hour on Thursday morning to discuss Auckland issues.
