THE RACE that stops a nation won’t be stopped by bad weather. Punters will be greeted with mild conditions at Flemington on Cup Day. READ THE FULL FORECAST
Temperatures at Flemington are primed for a picnic, with dry conditions and a top of 20C.
“We will have a belt of high pressure right across the southern part of the state, so we should see fairly stable conditions, mild day and at this stage we are going for a top of 20C,” Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Chris Godfred said.
“It should be mainly pleasant but at this stage we may see the southerly pick up a little during the afternoon.”
Mr Godfred said lows might form around central parts of the country, but it looks like it will skirt around Melbourne and won’t have any direct bearing on Flemington weather.
But with Melbourne’s reputation of unpredictable weather, it’s probably a good idea to come prepared for four seasons in one day.
