John Key's talking down National's chances of pulling off the Christchurch East by-election tomorrow.
National surprised many at the last election in the electorate by trouncing Labour on the party vote count, winning it by more than four thousand.
The Prime Minister's hopeful of an upset there tomorrow, but not confident.
"We've got a very good candidate he's worked very hard, yeah we know we're up against a very big challenge and all the cards are against us."
However, National won the party vote there and Labour leader David Cunliffe says that's very much front of mind.
"We are starting this race on party vote around about 2000 votes under the card and we're working really hard to make that difference up."
However Mr Cunliffe says that Lianne Dalziel held the seat with a majority of more than five thousand and he's telling voters candidate Poto Williams will fill her shoes.
