A protest against exploitation of residency-seeking workers, is underway in Auckland.

Liquor store worker Manjinder Singh is protesting outside his employer's premises, after claiming they forced him to work unpaid.

Migrant workers association spokesperson Sunny Sehgal told Larry Williams Singh has worked so much unpaid overtime, his average wage comes out at 7 dollars an hour.

"They are making you enslaved for five years, they will give you seven dollars an hour, they will put the money in your account to show it to immigration or whosoever is the department, that they are doing the right deal, but actually these workers need to work for longer hours."
