A promising Australian forward has committed his long term future to New Zealand.
Australian under 20's and Melbourne Rebels prop Tyrel Lomax has signed with the Highlanders for 2019 and 2020 Super Rugby seasons.
Lomax will see out his current deal with the Rebels and make the move across the Tasman at the end of the 2018 season.
He was named Australian under 20 player of the year last year and was part of Michael Cheika's original 48 man squad for 2017 before withdrawing.
The 21 year old is the son of former Kiwis prop John Lomax, who played 15 tests for New Zealand between 1992 and 1998.
